A milk tanker which crashed in rural Horowhenua has spilled milk into a paddock.
Emergency services closed one lane of State Highway 56 at Opiki, south of Palmerston North, after the truck and trailer unit left the road and crashed in the paddock.
The trailer unit overturned, spilling part of its load of milk.
There were no reported injuries.
Police said precautions were being taken to contain the scene and minimise the impact on the environment.
