Northland MP John Carter and Kaipara district mayor Graeme Ramsey are calling a meeting of people who want to reopen Dargaville Hospital's maternity unit.
The MP and the mayor want midwives, doctors, Northland Health and Ministry of Health representatives to discuss the future for the unit.
"We'll pull a meeting together and if that doesn't work, there will be more marches like the one on Friday," Mr Carter said, referring to the 500 people who called for the hospital's maternity service to continue.
