A two-day strike by 1200 lab workers starting today is expected to cause disruption at hospitals around the country and lead to the cancellation of some elective surgery.
Last-minute negotiations yesterday to halt the strike failed and followed unsuccessful contract negotiations over pay and conditions which had been going on for 13 months.
