A fast food takeaway bar's drive-through is under the spotlight after another car was nearly hit by a train in south Auckland.
Police said for the second time in a week a car was within a metre or two of being hit by a train near the Mangere railway station.
Inspector Darroch Todd from the police northern communications centre in Auckland said the driver of a south-bound passenger train applied the train's emergency brakes to stop it hitting a car stuck on the tracks about 8pm last night.
Police helped the driver move the vehicle and the train continue on its way, he said.
Last week a freight train used its emergency brakes to stop less than a metre from a stranded vehicle.
"Police staff are wondering if drivers are getting lost, as they attempt to negotiate a fast food restaurant's drive-through, which is located in the immediate vicinity," Mr Todd said.
