Wellington Zoo's newest addition has been described as "an inch of pure cuteness" - but visitors will have to be sharp-eyed to spot it. The eagerly awaited New Zealand forest gecko baby was found by keepers in its enclosure with its mum, dad and uncle.
"This little guy is just an inch of pure cuteness," said zoo keeper Esta Wilson-Burke."We're currently feeding it baby locusts, which are smaller than a blowfly, as they have to be smaller than its jaw."
New Zealand geckos are among the world's most anatomically primitive geckos and are renowned for their climbing ability.
