A former head of the Tainui Maori Trust Board says the sacking of Kingi Porima as executive chairman has put the tribe's financial recovery in "enormous jeopardy".
Tainui kaumatua Hare Puke has called on the executive to reinstate Mr Porima.
"I thought the consolidation of the tribe's financial position was more important than the personalities who have placed the tribe's stability in enormous jeopardy," he said.
Mr Puke said the move showed inexperience on the part of the new executive members, and criticised what he saw as a move at odds with the 50,000 beneficiaries they represented.
A source said a delegation had gone to Murupara to plead with Mr Porima to fight the sacking.
