Tainui board member axed

Tainui's 12-member board is now 11 after the axing of an executive member at a special meeting. The board voted six to four to remove Peter Tuteao from the executive, Te Kauhanganui.

Mr Tuteao was in breach of the tribe's constitution which bans anyone with a criminal conviction punishable by a prison term from sitting on its parliament, Te Kauhanganui, or executive.
