Swine flu is on the rise globally but the number of cases in New Zealand remains steady.
There have been nine confirmed cases of influenza A (H1N1) swine flu in New Zealand. All sufferers have recovered.
The number of cases overseas continues to increase, with about 13,400 cases reported in 48 countries, including 95 deaths.
The virus is on the rise in Australia, with 86 confirmed cases this afternoon.
Ministry of Health director of public health Mark Jacobs said there had been no evidence of community spread of the virus in New Zealand.
However, it would become increasingly difficult to keep the virus out of the country as more and more countries see community spread.
New Zealand was continuing efforts to contain the virus and prevent transmission by screening international flights and strengthening messages to travellers coming to New Zealand, Dr Jacobs said.
In New Zealand there were 10 probable cases of swine flu, 23 suspected cases and 24 people in isolation.
Anyone with flu symptoms who had recently travelled overseas should call their general practitioner and anyone unwell should not travel, he said.
