Reminiscing was the order of the day at the special dinner held on Saturday night as a highlight of the Masterton Swimming Club's 100th birthday celebrations.
"There were a lot of interesting and amusing stories told, it was all good fun," centennial committee chairperson Jeanette Pope said yesterday.
Guest speaker at the dinner was one of the club's most famous daughters, Donna Bouzaid, who performed with great distinction at domestic, provincial and national levels while a member of the Masterton club and is now head coach at one of the country's top clubs, West Auckland Aquatics.
Preceding the dinner was the Mitch Tait Centenary Memorial Carnival which was attended by family of the late Mitch Tait after whom this annual carnival was named.
A notable feature there was the staging of events in which competitors wore bathing attire which was prevalent more than a century ago.
