The small Wairarapa contingent made their presence felt at the national age group swimming championships in Wellington last week, making 17 finals and picking up two bronze medals.
Carterton's Joe Hammond and Masterton's Isaac Foote were the medallists, finishing third in the boys 15yrs 200m backstroke and boys 17-18yrs 200m butterfly respectively.
Those to make finals were:
Joe Hammond (Carterton) boys 15yrs: Fifth in 200m individual medley in 2min 17.14s, sixth in the 50m backstroke in 30.32s, third in the 200m backstroke in 2min 13.49s, fourth in the 400m individual medley in 4min 50.80s, ninth in the 100m breaststroke in 1min 15.31s.
Isaac Foote (Masterton) boys 17-18yrs: Third in 200m butterfly in 2min 6.46s, sixth in 400m freestyle in 4min 13.27s, fourth in the 400m individual medley in 4min 38.39s, seventh in 1500m freestyle in 16min 49.22s, fourth in 100m butterfly in 57.91s.
Ben Ruback (Masterton) boys 15yrs: Tenth in 200m butterfly in 2min 22.68s, fifth in 200m backstroke 2min 16.88s, seventh in 400m individual medley in 5min 0.92s, fifth in 1500m freestyle in 17min 11.12s.
Taylah Mawson (Carterton) girls 13yrs: Ninth in 400m individual medley in 5min 37.95s, ninth in 200m breaststroke in 3m 3.36s, 13th in 800m freestyle in 10m 17.06s.
