A swimmer has died today after getting into difficulty at Muriwai Beach on Auckland’s west coast.
Police confirmed they were called to the incident at 4pm today.
“The individual was brought to shore by surf lifesavers but was unable to be revived,” NZ Police said in a statement.
“Our thoughts are with the whānau and friends of the deceased.”
St John ambulance also attended the scene of the emergency.
