The court case for a Katikati man accused of mowing down black swans on Tauranga Harbour with a jetboat and taking part in the inhumane shooting of a goat has been adjourned.
Carl Ian Williams, 36, who was due to appear in Tauranga District Court today, faces three charges, including wilful ill-treatment of an animal in relation to black swans.
However, his lawyer successfully sought an adjournment until August 26.
The ill-treatment charges relate to an incident on Tauranga Harbour on December 26 last year, which Tauranga SPCA alleges was video-taped by someone onboard the boat.
Williams and another Katikati man both face an additional charge of a breach of the Animal Welfare Act relating to the alleged shooting of goat in 2011 after it was thrown into the air.
