KEY POINTS:
It's unofficial - a 50-year-old former cosmetics saleswoman will win this year's Dancing With The Stars grand finale.
Yep, internet fans of TVNZ's Tuesday night celebrity cavort have voted the quick legs of Suzanne Paul as most likely to succeed in this year's closely fought competition. Although not as young as most of the star contestants, the formerly bankrupt businesswoman took 45 per cent of the votes on Throng, a website dedicated to "New Zealand's TV watching community".
Paul Holmes' rather indelicate attempt at getting a grip on himself during his performance last week thrilled the judges, but didn't rate so highly on Throng, which put the Herald on Sunday columnist and his partner Rebecca Nicholson last on the list with just five per cent of the votes.
All Black WAG Megan Alatini and actress-cum-lawyer and ex- Black Cap WAG Greer Robson (once the girlfriend of cricketer Adam Parore) are battling it out for second place on Throng with 18 per cent apiece.
Now out of the running is former All Black Frank Bunce and his long-legged blonde partner Krystal Stuart. They were one of the handsomest couples on the show, but were voted off last week after lacklustre dancing and rumours of more than a professional connection.
But, as Stuart told the Herald on Sunday, that onscreen chemistry was fabricated because producers told them they "looked like the Ice Queen and King". Stuart - the only dancer to have fallen twice on Dancing With The Stars - said they sexed up their body language after the first episode. Last week's dance was difficult, she said, because she'd been ill with a throat infection.
"I was struggling, Frank was tired. It was a big ask."
