A suspicious package found on an Auckland train has triggered the evacuation of a commuter train.
A police bomb squad was on the way to the area, a police communications spokesman told NZPA.
The train driver found the package, stopped the train at the Takanini Rail Station and let all the passengers off. The area around the station has also been evacuated.
Police received the call about the package about 3.40pm.
The company running Auckland train services, Veolia, in a recorded telephone message, said its Otahuhu to Papakura trains had been stopped due to the emergency.
The company said it had put on replacement services.
