A "suspicious looking" tradesman and locksmith sparked a large police response - including the Eagle helicopter - in an Auckland suburb today.
The men were seen at a vacant property on Castleton St, Birkdale about 3.45pm, said Waitakere Police Senior Sergeant Mike Flatt.
Mr Flatt said the men were reported as looking "suspicious".
"Initially we thought it was two guys possibly doing a burglary in Birkdale, but it appears that it was actually a tradesman and a locksmith at the address."
A number of patrol cars and the Eagle helicopter were sent to the area. There were multiple reports of a lot of sirens sounding throughout the suburb.
