Following two incidents where women have been followed and harassed by a man in Wellington south suburbs, police are appealing for information.
A woman, 35, was followed while driving home along Apu Road in Lyall Bay on April 25 at about 4am.
After stopping, she was approached by a man who said he wanted to search her car and then her.
The woman fled to a nearby house and got help, Constable Stephen Davies said.
The offender was described as a Pacific Islander of short build in his late 40s, with a pot belly, short messy hair and missing front teeth. He was driving a white station wagon.
On May 8 a woman, 25, was waiting for a bus in Berhampore at 11pm when a man approached her and angrily demanded she get in his car, parked nearby. She refused, before boarding the bus.
The man followed the bus in his car and when the woman got off, he swore at her and again demanded she get in his car.
The woman phoned police and the man drove off.
Mr Davies said the man fitted a similar description to the earlier incident, although he had a noticeable number of rings on his hand and a strong Polynesian accent.
The car was a white Nissan Skyline with a broken front passenger window which had later been seen on two occasions in the Newtown area.
