Fire crews have put out a "suspicious" blaze at a house in Tauranga this evening.
Northern fire communications shift manager Scott Osmond said the blaze was at a single-storey house on Waikite Rd in Welcome Bay.
Osmond said crews were "not 100 per cent sure if anyone was inside or not" when they arrived, but later confirmed it had not been occupied.
"The house was well involved when we arrived," Osmond said.
The first of three fire crews arrived at the house at 10.30pm, he said.
