A fire which engulfed a block of flats north of Wellington early this morning is being treated as suspicious.
A Fire Service spokesman said two of the three flats in the block were "totally involved" in fire when emergency services arrived at the property on Herewini St, Titahi Bay, shortly after 4.15am.
A person was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
Police said in a statement that the fire was being treated as suspicious and officers were speaking to a 43-year-old man who was located nearby.
An ambulance spokeswoman said the person taken to hospital had minor injuries.
