An overnight fire at Timaru Girls' High School is being treated as suspicious.
Emergency services were called to the Cain St school at 2.50am after fire broke out in a prefab classroom, Fire Services southern communications shift manager Karl Patterson said.
About 34 firefighters battled the blaze for more than two hours, before bringing it under control about 4am.
Mr Patterson said the fire was considered suspicious and police and fire safety officers would investigate.
