The death of a man in the Auckland suburb of Hillsborough last month is now a homicide, police say.
Damien Loder Allen, 33, was found dead in his Hillsborough home on September 24, 2009, after 111 calls from others at the house.
Mr Allen died from a head injury.
Since then police and forensic scientists have extensively studied the house, looking to reconstruct what happened.
Detective Inspector Scott Beard said tests used to determine if blood was present identified areas of interest.
Police were still waiting for more scientific analysis of the tests.
