KEY POINTS:
Palmerston North police have arrested two men suspected of committing a spate of robberies over the last few weeks.
They were spotted driving near the city at around 8pm yesterday, shortly after a couple of robberies were reported in Bunnythorpe and Feilding.
When police signalled them to stop they sped off, reaching speeds of nearly 170km/h . They headed through the Manawatu Gorge towards Woodville, but were met by staff from three police stations who were waiting with road spikes.
The driver was arrested at the scene but his passenger ran off and had to be tracked by a police dog.
He was found hiding in Woodville Primary School and taken to Palmerston North Police Station where he was treated for dog bites.
