A fire at New Plymouth's Spotswood College this morning appears to have been arson as other school buildings were vandalised overnight.
Police and fire services attended the fire which gutted a pre-fab building used as a common room around 12.30am today.
Sergeant Bruce Irvine said there had been a number of windows broken and other damage around the school grounds which made the fire appear suspicious.
CIB and fire safety officers were investigating.
