The child alleged to have stabbed his classmate in the head with scissors still hasn't been formally interviewed by police.
The 11-year-old boy was taken to the police station immediately after the incident at Pacific Christian School in Mangere on Tuesday, but was released into the care of a Child, Youth and Family facility soon after.
Police said yesterday the investigation "has progressed well". Most interviews with child witnesses were expected to be finished yesterday, but the Weekend Herald understands the alleged offender hasn't given a statement. It is likely that interview will take place early next week.
The boy's family has been visiting him daily at his CYF home.
Family members from around the country have arrived to support the family of the 11-year-old victim at their Otara, South Auckland home, visiting the boy at Starship children's hospital, where he remains in critical condition in a coma.
