The products should not be used until confirmation they are free from contamination.
Fonterra says three batches of whey protein it manufactured in May last year had tested positive for the toxic bacteria due to a dirty pipe at a Waikato plant.
Since Fonterra's announcement, people in Wairarapa have been returning the products to supermarkets.
Pak'n Save Masterton has had several customers returning the infant formula, said Katherine Klouwens, group communications manager, Foodstuffs NZ.
She said customers who returned any of the recalled products would be refunded in store.
Fresh Choice Greytown owner Chris Ward said nobody had returned products yet.
However, he anticipated sales of other brands of infant formula to increase and was stocking up to meet demand.
All potentially contaminated products have been taken off the shelves and warnings put in place. Plunket media manager Nikki Prendergast said the Plunket helpline has had a huge increase in calls from concerned parents.
"On Saturday, we had double the number we normally expect.
"On Sunday we had three to four times the number."
Extra staff had been rostered on to meet the call demand, mainly from concerned parents checking their batch of formula.
Countdown says all products had been removed from the Masterton supermarket.
There had been no reports of children falling sick from contamination.
