KEY POINTS:
Former television presenter Susan Wood has quit as Takapuna Beach Business Association's new general manager just seven days after she started.
Ms Wood said that after analysing the organisation she didn't think it had the funding to achieve what she wanted for Takapuna.
"It is like having a car in the garage without the money for petrol," she told the North Shore Times.
Board members were surprised at what she uncovered, she said.
"We're all good friends. I've left to think about how best to use my skills," she said.
Wood said she didn't want to take ratepayer money from businesses and not deliver.
"That would be a rip-off."
Association deputy chairman Michael Sheehy said the association respected Ms Wood's decision.
