Eighteen teams entered the East Indoor Bowling Club's triples tournament last Sunday with two of them playing off over three ends for the major prize after they won all four of their games.
The eventual winners were Sarndra Bain, Peter Bain and Janice Leighton with John Mahupuku, Jenny Mahupuku and Keith Merwood taking the runner-up spot. Third equal were the teams of Elva Simonsen, Robbie Duncan and Graeme Day and Tony Manu, Frank Meyrick and Doug Goodin.
The Emerson pairs tourney was played the previous Sunday with Elva Simonsen and Steve Rowlett prevailing. Rowlett is in only his second year of indoor bowls and this was his first win. Runners-up were Mike King and Marilyn O'Neale.
Donald Leighton won the champion of champions singles title with Elva Simonsen runner-up.
Steven Johnston and Murray Hume of the Oddfellows club won the South Wairarapa Association's champion of champions pairs title from Robyn Lyttle and Jen Henderson of South Featherston. It was locked up at 7-7 on the last end and an extra end had to be played, where Johnston and Hume picked up one shot to win 8-7.
