A surfer has been rescued off Bethells Beach, west of Auckland this afternoon.
The man went missing while he was out surfing with a friend, triggering a response from both the Coastguard and police.
The Papakura-One Coastguard aircraft, rescue helicopter and four vessels were used in the search.
