Executive chef Bernd Lippman judged this thuringer bratwurst the winner of the Supreme Sausage of the Year Award in Wellington yesterday. The sausage was made by Wellington's Westmeats Butchery.
Auckland's Westmere Butchery won a gold medal in the beef section and Leonards Superior Smallgoods in East Tamaki took gold in the saveloy, polony, cocktail category.
About 70 sausage-makers entered 440 examples of their craft.
