KEY POINTS:
The body of a man found in a Palmerston North flat last year had an ear bitten off and part of his penis missing, it can now be disclosed.
There were also bite marks to the rest of Stanley Waipouri's body and his face was unrecognisable, the Manawatu Standard reported today.
Mr Waipouri, 39, died in a late-night attack in December last year. An order suppresssing details of the injuries was lifted in Palmerston North District Court.
Andre Gilling, 17, and Ashley Benjamin Arnopp, 20, both unemployed, have been charged with Mr Waipouri's murder.
Mr Waipouri's severed penis has never been found.
Police believe the attack lasted between one and two hours.
Arnopp and Gilling, who were visitors at Mr Waipouri's flat, were found at the scene and charged with assault.
They were later charged with murder.
Arnopp and Gilling are in custody awaiting a pre-depositions hearing on March 20.
