Supporters of a woman killed at the Mongrel Mob headquarters in Porirua were warned today to show respect after yelling obscenities at the man accused of her murder.
In Porirua District Court today supporters yelled out "F*** you" and other obscenities at unemployed man Quentin Duff, 35, accused of murdering Bronwyn Aroha Whakaneke, 33, on January 8.
Ms Whakaneke, a mother of two teenage girls, was found dead at the gang headquarters in the east Porirua suburb of Waitangirua.
A post-mortem showed she died as a result of blows from a blunt instrument.
Judge Jan Kelly warned the group of around 10 supporters that if they wanted to attend the court hearings then they must show respect for the court.
One supporter said under their breath "I'm not going to respect that dick".
The outburst happened as Duff was leaving to go back to the cells. He also faces a charge of breaching community work.
Judge Kelly remanded him in custody by consent. He will appear again on May 19 for a week-long depositions hearing.
Both the murder charge and the breach of community work will be dealt with at this time.
Outside the court the group of supporters had placards propped up on the ground saying things like "He took her life by beating her, punish him with a beating - give him a maximum sentence."
