Support is still pouring in for the New Zealand Herald's 'Two Drinks Max' campaign.
More than 30,000 people have voted in a Herald digipoll asking for people's personal approach to drink driving.
A majority say they would not drive after two drinks, with 40 per cent putting their limit at two and 38 per cent at no drinks at all before driving.
That 78 per cent total is in line with a Herald on Sunday poll that saw 76 percent of people put their limit at less than two drinks.
More than 4000 people have signed up to the campaign online.
The 'Two Drinks Max' group on Facebook has 786 members and 1079 support the campaign at the nzherald.co.nz Facebook page.
A further 2773 have signed up through the nzherald.co.nz website.
The results show broad public support for the campaign, says its founder, Herald on Sunday editor Bryce Johns.
"These are some of the best feedback numbers in nzherald.co.nz history," he says. "We have touched a nerve and the Government needs to pick up on this."
Mr Johns will make a submission to a select committee on transport safety this afternoon.
The 'Two Drinks Max' campaign is aimed at convincing Government to lower New Zealand's drink driving limit from 80mg to 50mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.
That would allow one to two standard drinks before driving.
Politicians in support include Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown, Auckland Mayor Len Brown and Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker.
Prominent New Zealanders including Middlemore Hospital emergency department head Vanessa Thornton, mountaineer Mark Inglis, actress Beth Allen and model Kylie Bax have signed up.
