Tow trucks had a field day in Auckland clearing the route for this afternoon's Santa parade.
Before the event's scheduled 2pm start, towies began plucking parked vehicles off the street.
The temperature is expected to reach 26 degrees in Auckland, meaning it could be an uncomfortable time inside a Spongebob Squarepants or Bob The Builder costume, let alone for Santa himself.
Lucy Dunningham is grateful she's been cast as one of the True Loves of Christmas.
"We're fortunate we're on a float that's covered and we won't have to walk", she told Newstalk ZB.
"I pity those poor kids and adults in furry costumes, they'll really be in need of a good drink at the end of the hour."
The parade will also feature five big brass bands and eight pipe bands.
