A luxury liner from the same fleet as the doomed cruise ship that sank in the Mediterranean Sea, killing 32 passengers and crew, spent 12 hours in Auckland yesterday.
The Costa Deliziosa was berthed at Queens Wharf for a stopover on a 100-day around-the-world cruise also visiting the Caribbean, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.
It spent 12 hours in Auckland before leaving for Suva just after 7pm.
The 292m Deliziosa is part of the same fleet as the Costa Concordia, which created international headlines last month when it ran into rocks off the Tuscan coast and sank.
