With temperatures hitting 29C yesterday, favourite swimming holes were a must.
The Times-Age met up with the Loader clan from Masterton, enjoying their favourite and well-used spot by the Tirohanga cliffs at 'Twin Bridges', where the Ruamahanga River meets the Opaki-Kaiparoro Rd and rail line.
Brothers Jake and Luke Loader were introducing Auckland cousin Tobias Baker, 16, to the big leap off the cliffs, and the Aucklander was taking the 15m plunge in his stride.
Father Marcus Loader said because of this summer's temperatures, he had been to this spot more often this summer than he's been in previous years.
"That warm burst on Christmas day - we've been here nearly every night."
