A Brunei Prince married to a New Zealand woman says he is worried he may soon be homeless and forced into bankruptcy - even though they are living in the lap of luxury in London.
Prince Jefri Bolkiah lives with wife Claire Kelly and their two young sons in St John's Lodge, a London mansion in Regent's Park. But the Prince, who has two other wives and is divorced from a further two, has told the Wall Street Journal: "We don't know where we are going to live.
"They want me to give it all back."
The 53-year-old is the younger brother of the Sultan of Brunei. As finance minister in 1986-98, Prince Jefri went on a massive spending spree with Brunei's money, channelled through an investment agency into his own Amedeo Development Corp, which crashed in 1998 amid the Asian financial crisis.
Since dismissing Prince Jefri from his official positions a decade ago, the Sultan has won a series of decisive legal victories.
In May 2000, the Prince agreed to hand over nearly all of his wealth.
The Sultan's advisers have started legal proceedings to evict him and his wife from their London home.
The Prince said he worried about paying for the studies of his 18 children, some of whom are studying abroad.
When asked how many mothers there were, the Prince counted seven.
