A successor to the Maori Party's co-founder Tariana Turia is expected to be named today.
Six people have put their hands up for a stab at the job, which becomes vacant when Mrs Turia retires ahead of the general election next year.
Her electorate stretches from Wellington to Kawhia in the Waikato.
She holds it with a margin of just over six per cent over Labour.
