KEY POINTS:
Burglars stole "a substantial amount of cash" from security company Armourguard's premises in Blenheim early today.
It was thought the offenders may have been at the premises for some time before the break in and were likely to have cased the premises out, Detective Sergeant John Hamilton, of Blenheim CIB, said.
The robbery took place about 2.45am.
"It is thought the offenders will have discussed a plan at some time in the past as they considered how they might be able to enter the building," he said.
"If anyone recalls any suspicious conversations of this type, they are asked to contact us immediately."
It was not known at this stage how much was taken or exactly how the offenders got into the Opawa Street premises.
A scene examination was under way and staff had been called in to help with the inquiry.
