South Wairarapa District Council has been awarded another government subsidy to help improve drinking water supplies in Featherston.
The $50,000 Ministry of Health subsidy is an extra bonus on top of a $617,500 subsidy the council received last year for the development of two bores, which is still ongoing.
A 2013 survey by the council found 60 per cent of residents were satisfied with the quality of the water supply. There is only a round left in the Drinking-Water Subsidy Scheme which has $10 million available each year.
