Subaru BRZ: Possum Bourne-prepped racer unveiled

A Kiwi-prepped track version of the hot Subaru BRZ has been unveiled at the Sydney Motor Show.

The BRZ is part of a joint venture with the Toyota 86, and Subaru Australia has introduced the motorsport version with its long-term race and rally partner Possum Bourne Motorsport.

"This car will take the BRZ thrill to a whole new level for those that want some serious trackwork," said Subaru Australia managing director Nick Senior.

There's a massive level of interest among motorsport fans, so we're keen to tap into that market.

"From day one we have always imagined the BRZ would appeal to the 'weekend warriors' - people who enjoy club level motorsport activities.

"PBMS has developed packages that will appeal to these enthusiasts. It is a company that has developed an international reputation for excellence in engineering and fastidiousness in attention to detail."

There will be three options offered by PBMS to suit different levels of commitment and wealth.

The entry-level version includes a rollcage, Recaro racing seats and Sabelt harnesses, an uprated fuel system and some carbon fibre parts, including door panels.

The next level - the same as the display car at the Sydney show - has driveline and suspension work carried out, including fully adjustable Cusco coilovers, AP brake rotors and calipers, an electrical upgrade including wiring, circuit breakers and a lightweight battery, Recaro winged-HANS seats and 18x8 lightweight Enkei rims wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R tyres.

For the deadly serious is a complete performance parts package, including customer-requested modifications and a full host of upgrades, including engine and gearbox.
