KEY POINTS:
An actor groaned as he was "nailed" to a cross in Albert Park yesterday, as part of a re-enactment of Jesus' last steps to the cross by the Catholic Student Society on Campus.
About 150 people watched the 50 actors sing, pray and perform.
"It's a really good way to remind everyone that Easter isn't all about eggs and chocolate," said Gillian Brown, 22, who watched the procession.
Marj Simpson, an American tourist who stumbled across the procession, said: "It's so fantastic to see so many people stopping to watch. In the States most people would just keep walking."
Organiser Jo van Kemp said the procession was part of the lead-up to World Youth Day, to be held in Sydney in July next year.
