A Japanese student living in Rotorua has been given back half of the $420 she paid for her hair to be coloured and highlighted.
Last week The Daily Post featured a story about 21-year-old Ami Taguchi who went to Dancing Scissors to have highlights and her hair coloured and ended up paying $420.
She had expected to pay less than $200. She didn't ask how much it would cost as she could see prices displayed on the wall, prompting a warning from Consumer New Zealand for people to check the price of any service before agreeing to have the work done to ensure they are happy with the price.
The hairdresser and salon owner, Shaz Safarzadegan, said Ms Taguchi's hair was thick, long and in bad condition, with a three-inch regrowth.
Her work included covering the unwanted previous highlights, highlighting parts of the hair, colouring the regrowth, then colouring the hair before blow-waving.
