Students occupied Auckland University's clock tower briefly tonight to show their anger at looming fee increases.
The University's Council had been holding a public meeting this afternoon with fee hikes on the agenda.
Spokeswoman for 'We Are The University Movement', Harla Nasr, says they only have two student representatives on the council and the majority vote always triumphs over that of the students.
"As a movement we disagree with the unequal power distribution between students and managers at this university."
The group left the building at 8.40pm, chanting "we are the 99 per cent'', after three police vans and 35 officers turned up.
