Digging post holes, tying fence knots and stapling fence batons were just some of the skills Wairarapa College Year 12 agricultural students learned last week as they built fences on the college farm.
Over two days the 27 students were taught in two groups by tutors from the Taratahi Agricultural Training Farm, says Wairarapa College head of agriculture Dan Grace.
"The annual course gives the students valuable skills in fencing and is a good practical course and allows the students to get used to learning from an outside provider."
The students also earn credits.
It is funded through the Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resource, which allows all students to participate.
