Six Kuranui College students took part in the annual Crighton ITM stocktake last week to raise funds for their 2013 Stage Challenge.
Principal Geoff Shepherd said stage challenge was wholly student-driven and they were fortunate to have a group of highly-motivated students who wanted this year's entry to be outstanding.
"They have totally taken on board the responsibility of fundraising and strong relationships with local businesses go a long way to help strengthen our community," he said.
Crighton ITM Greytown branch manager Steve Boyles said they had already agreed to provide timber for the set but the stocktake was a second thought.
"I thought 'hang-on' we need people to do the pre-counting, so why not give the opportunity to Kuranui. The students gain some work experience and we'll donate some money towards their stage challenge fund. It's great to see the commitment from the students; instead of the students just putting their hands out, they are actually giving something back," he said.
