A Whangarei teenager has been suspended from school after smashing another student's skull.
The Whangarei Boys' High School student apparently attacked the other student while they were sitting a test in the school hall yesterday.
The victim, 14, is recovering in hospital from a fractured skull, broken nose and concussion.
Principal Al Kirk told Radio New Zealand said the attack was a random act of unexplainable violence.
Police said the attacker would be dealt with in the Youth Court.
