Nelson schoolgirl Heidi Wardrop has avoided being expelled after streaking during an interschool rugby match last week.
Heidi, 17, a year 13 student at Nelson College for Girls, was suspended after she ran on to the pitch during the game between Nelson College and Shirley Boys' High School, wearing only her knickers.
Nelson College for Girls principal Alison McAlpine said all five girls involved in the incident had returned to school today after facing a board of trustees meeting yesterday morning.
"There has been enough coverage in the media, I won't be making any further comment," she said.
Heidi said last week that her streak was "completely spontaneous", resulting from a dare when the game became boring.
Streaking was something she had wanted to do because her brothers had done it, she said.
She had been talking with friends about Lisa Lewis, who disrupted the first All Blacks-Ireland test in Hamilton when she ran on to the field in a bikini.
Ms Lewis was fined $200 and $130 costs in Hamilton District Court earlier this month.
She auctioned her bikini on the Trade Me auction website and is waiting to see if a $4000 bid is genuine.
Ms Lewis rang Mrs McAlpine last week to apologise for any influence she may have had on Heidi's decision to streak.
Mrs McAlpine said last week that Heidi had been distraught at media coverage given to her streak. She was "very upset about her naivety" and the media attention she had attracted.
"Young people are naive and what they see in the spur of the moment is not what the reality is," she said.
