A 28-year-old overseas student remains in a critical condition tonight following a collision between the bicycle she was riding and a car in the Christchurch suburb of Riccarton last night.
The woman had been admitted to an intensive care unit in Christchurch Hospital after the collision about 6.30pm.
She was expected to be brought out of an induced coma tonight, Sergeant Steve Burke told NZPA.
The student had been cycling along Blenheim Road, turned right into Hansons Lane and collided with a car.
"Initially it looks like she has just failed to give way to the straight ahead traffic, but we've got to consider everything," Mr Burke said.
