Student blinded in one eye after fight

A student has been left blind in one eye after being attacked at school.

The 16-year-old was beaten up at Howick College by five youths from outside the school on Tuesday.

He now faces an operation to repair muscle damage to his left eye.

A friend, also 16, went to help and was slightly injured.

School principal Bill Dimery said the attack appeared to be in retaliation for an earlier fight over a girl.
