An international student was today convicted of injuring an Auckland secondary school teacher who was stabbed in the classroom in March.
Tae Won Chung, 17, was convicted after pleading guilty to the charge that, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, he injured Avondale College teacher Dave Warren.
Chung, from South Korea, originally faced a more serious count of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
In Auckland District Court this morning, defence counsel David Jones QC said the charge had been amended with consent of the police.
Chung was remanded on bail for sentencing on July 30.
Mr Warren, who taught Japanese, was stabbed in the back on March 3 while writing on a whiteboard during a lesson.
