A driver recorded a ''staggering'' breath test after she got her car stuck in a ditch while trying to drive on a walking track near Wanaka at the weekend.

Wanaka Constable Aubury Martin said an officer noticed the woman trying to get her car out of a ditch near Mt Iron.
A breathtest recorded a "staggering" alcohol level of 966mcg, Martin said.
"She was definitely not in a state to drive."
